Candle Lighting Ceremony & Survivor Speak Out 2024

Each year during Sexual Violence Awareness Month we hold a Candle Lighting Ceremony and Survivor Speak Out. The lighting of candles symbolises the hope we share for a future free of sexual violence and the support of a community that understands the importance of believing survivors.

About the event

The Candle Lighting & Survivor Speak Out is our powerful way to stand alongside survivors and show them they are heard and believed.

On Wednesday 23rd October 2024 we will come together to take part in the Candle Lighting Ceremony alongside survivors, their supporters, and GCCASV staff. Sexual violence is a dark subject, often shrouded in secrecy and isolation for victim/survivors. By lighting candles, we can start to shed light on the subject and show our support and celebrate the strength and courage it has taken people all over the world to survive the sexual violence that has been perpetrated against them.

This is a closed event for clients and staff only.

For clients who wish to attend or feel they may want to Speak Out please talk with your counsellor.

We encourage the public to hold their own Candle Lighting Ceremony in your workplace or home. You might like to focus on how #YourVoiceMatters and share the changes you are making to end sexual violence.
